The New Bizarro Author Series and The Magnificent Seven
Anyone who has worked with a small or university press before has probably noted that there is a greater feel of community than with a larger press but that decisions around whom the press publishes can get cliquish. Good networkers often have an advantage over good writers. To counter that possibility at Eraserhead, Kevin Donihe and Carlton Mellick III have created the New Bizarro Author Series. For the press, this is a way to expand its stable of authors. For the reader, it is a way to discover new writers early on.
Mine is one of seven books by new authors being released by Eraserhead Press in late October/early November. If you read any of these books, you will be entering a movement right at the beginning. You haven’t just bought a book. You’ve bought the right to say, “I was reading [insert author here] before he/she was popular.”
Here follows the roster of the NBAS class of 2010:
“Bucket of Face” by Eric Hendrixson
“The Egg Said Nothing” by Caris O’Malley
“Uncle Sam’s Carnival of Copulating Inanimals” by Kirk Jones
“Felix and the Sacred Thor” by James Steele
“Love in the Time of Dinosaurs” by Kirsten Alene
“How to Eat Fried Furries” by Nicole Cushing
“Muscle Memory” by Steve Lowe
Great blog it’s not often that I comment but I felt you deserve it.
